What You Will Learn:

• See the Unseen: Be surprised by the beauty of everyday details.
• Mobile Photography Skills: Master simple, effective techniques to capture great photos using your smartphone.
• Storytelling Through a Lens: Discover how to uncover the hidden history of the Okanagan and document the people who live here.
• Creative Community Practice: Collaborate with fellow participants to play with light, shadow, and geographical detail.
• Final Exhibition: See your work displayed as part of our final weekend celebration.

Workshop Logistics

• Dates: Wednesday, Aug 4 – Sunday, August 8, 2026
• Time: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
• Ages: 16+
• Fees: Ages 16–29 (Free); Ages 30+ (By Donation)
• What to Bring: A smartphone or camera.
• Experience Level: All levels welcome, including beginners.

Workshop Itinerary:

• Day 1: Introduction to photography and simple, powerful rules for great photos.
• Day 2: Portrait workshops, guided photo walk, and creative group feedback.
• Day 3: Exploring local spots, meetings with community activists, and photo selection.
• Day 4: Group photo quest, editing, and preparing your images for print.
• Day 5: Final exhibition setup and showcase with your friends.

Workshop Leader: Łukasz Wójtowicz

Łukasz Wójtowicz is an art-community curator, performing arts producer, and co-founder of the Eastern Theatre Foundation. With 15 years of experience in stage production and design, he has focused since 2023 on community photography projects exploring and (re) discovering local heritage and identity. These projects have been exhibited internationally in Germany, Slovenia, Sweden, and Brazil. An experienced facilitator, Łukasz has led multinational photo workshops across Europe and Africa and directs the 'Your Turn - Creative Youth Project” (Ages 18-21). He is passionate about using photography as a tool for intercultural dialogue and local storytelling.

About Eastern Theatre – Theatre for Hope (Poland)

Established in 2021, the Eastern Theatre Foundation (Fundacja Teatr Wschodni) is a Lublin-based NGO fostering independent art and intercultural exchange. Operating from a historic studio on Lubartowska Street, the foundation has facilitated over 70 international projects since 2023, hosting artists and participants from across the globe. Driven by passionate volunteers, the organization empowers local youth, students, and activists—including those from migrant and rural backgrounds—to build social and intercultural skills through artistic development.
